Yeah I got the email this morning. I reckon they were tired of getting emails from customers (I sent them like a dozen) regarding free upgrades or at least decent discounts for owners of Abbey Road to get Studio Drummer. I always got no for an answer and now they do just that. Worth noting is that these upgrade won't replace your current Abbey Road package, which means you can install them side by side or 1 in a different computer. Now, I just ordered Studio drummer before christmas, but after this I'll be putting it up for sale pretty soon if anyone is interested, it's the DVD version.
So I've downloaded the updates for Kontakt 5 plus used the links Native Instruments emailed me to download the new Abbey Road Drummer Series for my 70's & 80's packs & they give you serial numbers for these BUT when I go into Service Center to Activate the new versions with the 2 serial numbers Native Instruments have provided me, the Activate Tab does not give me any place to put these new serial numbers. All it says is 'All Products are Activated' Hmmm.any one know how to get these serial numbers in there? I haven't installed the updates yet but are you able to run the abbey updates in demo mode? I see that you are using Lion, maybe you need to verify the installation path?
Lion uses a different user manager system so maybe the installation wasn't successful?Hi edtxer, No, I am not able to run it at all - not even demo mode. The downloads showed to be the right size however the package contents are really different looking than the original abbey road 70's & 80's folder. After reading your idea I did double check the installation path & it's in the exact same spot where the original Abbey Road Files are: Macintosh HD:Users:Shared:Abbey Road I know, Lion is different. There's a different way to get to your user folder now. Someone showed me that recently.thanks I actually sent Native Instruments Support an email to let them know my issue so when I get an answer I'll post it.
Thanks again, Kim. Hi Kim, Make sure you're loading the 'Drummer' version and not the 'Drums' version. The original versions are named 'Abbey Road blah, blah, blah Drums'.
The new version is 'Abbey Road blah, blah, blah Drummer'. The new version and the old will both be listed if they're in your data path. If you don't see the new version check the data path in Kontakt 5 Cheers, RailHi Rail How are you? Thanks for the advice. I checked out the data paths it didn't seem to correct/fix anything. I think perhaps my downloads need to be re-done, maybe they weren't fully downloaded properly.
I'm just in the midst of that now. My problem I think is the folder hierarchy. I need to know the exact folder path & I've emailed Native Instruments Support to ask. My Folder hierarchy for the regular Abbey Road 70s Drum library & 80s is the same & they work great in Kontakt 5 which is: Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Abbey Road 70s Drum Library & same for 80's Drum Library. So once I finish downloading again, where exactly should these new Drummer Series files go? Should I put the 70s Drummer Series right inside the Abbey Road 70s Drums Library Folder & same for 80's or do I do something different?
Thanks Rail, Kim. You might have to redownload and install again, I had the same problem and I have a PC. I had to download and install them 3 times before it finally showed up in the Service Center, Make sure it is being installed to the' Abbey Road Library ' RickHi Rick, Thanks for your idea. I trashed the files I downloaded & I just finished downloading the files again. You had to do it 3 times? What do you think worked the 3rd time? Guess you got the right Folder Hierarchy (Abbey Road Library)which is something I'm hoping to get right the second time around Does your 'Abbey Road Library' contain all the samples, instruments?
